Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- September is National Preparedness Awareness Month, a time to make sure you've dotted your "i's" and crossed your "t's" when it comes to being ready for anything.
And if you haven't, the Red Cross has just the App for you.
It's not every day a tornado devastates a community, a hurricane ravishes a coastline, or a stranger experiences a devastating injury. But when these things do happen, do you know what to do? If not, don't worry, there's an App for that.
Randy Johnson/Regional Red Cross CEO: "It's important to have them in the palm of your hand because you never know when these things are going to happen."
It's the Red Cross First Aid App. Open and it immediately asks you if you're in an emergency. If so, scroll down and select one of more than a dozen possible options or select an immediate link to call 911.
And if you're not in an emergency. Time to learn. Educational videos and tutorials show you what to do in-case the unthinkable happens.
Johnson: "It has a combination of high sense of urgency and low sense of urgency."
And earlier this month, just before the devastation brought on by Hurricane Isaac, the Red Cross released it's Hurricane App. It shows you what to do before during and after the storm; sends out a message to all your contacts that you are safe; and even shows you where the nearest shelters are.
And the Red Cross isn't done, it also plans to launch a Tornado application and a Flood application.
Johnson: "By the time we hit October 1st, we'll have four or five applications people can download and be ready for just about anything."
Remember, hope for the best, but always prepare for the worst.
All of the Red Cross applications are Free and available on both the Android and Apple markets.
