Blue Cross Blue Shield sponsors a statewide recess

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- In an effort to increase physical activity, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota is sponsoring recess.

Today, the healthcare insurance company announced a platform to enhance the well-being of North Dakotans. Several schools throughout the state received tools that help make it fun and easy to incorporate recess into the school day.

Many schools have cut down on gym class and recess, despite growing childhood obesity rates.

Paul Von Ebers, president of Blue Cross Blue Shield says, "obesity among children is growing at a rapid rate. And many experts have said that if we don't address childhood obesity, we really cannot control healthcare costs."
