North Dakota flags to fly at half-staff to honor Libya victims

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple has directed all state government agencies to fly the U.S. and state flags at half-staff in honor of the victims of the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple has directed all state government agencies to fly the U.S. and state flags at half-staff in honor of the victims of the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

The attack by extremists on Tuesday killed four State Department employees, including the American ambassador to Libya, and wounded three others.

Dalrymple's directive is in accordance with one from President Barack Obama. It is in effect until sunset Sunday. Dalrymple also is encouraging state residents to fly their flags at half-staff until then.

Flags in North Dakota are to be at half-staff on Friday for a second reason — former astronaut Neil Armstrong is being buried that day.
