Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The F-M RedHawks season ended with a thud last Friday in Winnipeg after a record-setting regular season.

There's three outs in baseball, so I'll give you three words to describe what your team did in the regular season?

Doug Simunic: "Oh boy...painful, tremendous, and fulfilling. I mean, it was a good year for us. We can't sit here and dwell on what happened to us in the playoffs. It was a year that saw how a team can stumble out of the block, and then all of the sudden, come together and did what we did."

There had to be nights where you were thinking, we just can't lose?

Doug: "Yeah, there were nights like that. I mean, we had a 14-game winning streak, we went two weeks without losing. That's pretty good. That's something that you're not going to see very often, especially in an independent league."

In three words describe your postseason?

Doug: "Just...slow, slow, and slower. It was bad. We couldn't get anything going as far as our offensive prowess. 61 of our games were played against teams that finished above .500. 61! To play the best teams in the league and to beat them. Then to have a 65 and 38 record is a tribute to the players."

Speaking of the players. So many players had breakout seasons. Who surprised you the most this season?

Doug: "Ryan Delgado, we weren't really sure about him. We didn't know much about him. His minor league stats didn't show that he played a lot. Then he hit 21 homeruns or whatever it was, 20 homers, and drove in 86 runs. That to me is a pretty good find."
