West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Some neighbors in West Fargo are voicing their concern over the possibility of a hotel and convention center being built across the street from Cheney Middle School.

Several voiced their concern at tonight's planning and zoning board meeting.

The land in question is a vacant lot on the southwest corner of Ninth Street east and 19th Avenue.

Many feel that a conference center and hotel could be harmful to the children.

They also cited traffic congestion, noise and a possible drop in home values as other concerns.

Peggy Stibbe, Concerned Homeowner: “In my mind it's more important to have the safety of our youth far outweighs any benefit from the tax income.”
