Fort Collins, CO (WDAY TV) -- The NDSU athletic director has announced the 10 players involved in a highly publicized petition fraud case will "not" be suspended.
Those comments coming right after the bison knock off FBS Colorado State.
Gene Taylor says the players have been through enough this week, in his words they were vilified by the media.
With president Dean Breschani by his side, Taylor said neither he nor Coach Craig Bohl will add punishment onto what the 10 players receive in court.
And says he suspects that to be a light punishment. 2 of the players involved in the case were standouts in Saturday's 22 to 7 win.
Here's Taylor shortly after the game.
Gene Taylor, the NDSU Athletic Director, says, "I appreciate that they were able to put that away and work hard and be focussed on the game. I'm always proud of the kids and I know they felt horrible and everyday their pictures were on the paper day after day after day and it gets old and it does get to them, I mean they're good kids and they made a mistake and were vilified many times over this week and for them to come out here and play well I think it's hats off to them."
The players first court appearance is scheduled for October 2nd.
