Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Registration is now open for a program that prepares four-year-olds and their parents for Kindergarten.

"Gearing up for Kindergarten" focuses on child development and parental involvement in learning. The 90-minute classes begin this month, and will be held on weeknights.

Five Fargo elementary schools and a few West Fargo Kindergarten centers are participating in the program.

Kyle Davison, SEEC Exec. Director, says, "getting kids and parents involved with the school at an earlier age. Getting them familiar with the expectations of the school, the expectations of parenting and how to work more closely with the school to help their kids in education will tend to lead for positive results."

The program is funded by the United Way and North Dakota legislature.
