GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The annual Grand Forks event dubbed the "world's largest french fry feed" fell short of another record this year.
The Grand Forks Herald reports that 3,750 pounds of fries were served in the city's University Park on Thursday night — well short of the event record of 5,101 pounds set last year.
Northern Potato Growers Association marketing manager Ted Kreis says light rain early in the evening probably kept some people away.
The feed is held during the annual Potato Bowl week that celebrates the potato industry in the Red River Valley. Potato processor J.R. Simplot Co. sponsors the event.
