Becker County, MN (WDAY TV) - Becker County residents might notice there are some new law enforcement vehicles on patrol. The Sheriff's department is in transition to new squad cars.

Three 2012 Dodge Chargers and one 2013 Ford Taurus Interceptor have replaced the Crown Victoria, which Ford discontinued. The Taurus's all-wheel drive will be an advantage during harsh Minnesota winters, but a new vehicle takes some getting used to.

Sidney Canham – Deputy Sheriff: “So far, so good. The rear window is a little bit small, and it's a little more difficult to back up, but everything else is really nice about it. It seems like it has more usable space in it than the Crown Victoria did.”

The department will add more of the new vehicles next year.
