Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Fargo City Commission gave the Downtown Business Improvement District a no nonsense assessment of their chance of getting future financial assistance from the city. The district wants thousands of dollars for downtown upkeep. Snow removal, garbage pickup and budget issues were the main concerns.
The commission said that it had to be a partnership between the two, and not a commitment from the city. Mayor Walaker was optimistic that a relationship could be reached.
Mayor Dennis Walaker – Fargo: “It's got to be a partnership. The only way this is going to work, it has to be a partnership between the people down there. Instead of coming and asking for increased services without any relation to the cost of those services, that's what has to be done.”
The commission will decide on Tuesday if the Business Improvement District will get into this year’s budget.
