Fargo-Moorhead (WDAY TV) - Some of Fargo-Moorhead's newest Americans are learning English quickly, thanks to technology and some eager Rotary volunteers.
Rotary has launched Project English sites across the metro. One hundred and forty-three volunteers have spent a thousand hours helping 172 New Americans.
There are now eight places where New Americans can learn English using the Rosetta Stone program. Business leaders, local non-profits and law enforcement today praised Rotary for helping refugees become successful members of the community.
Heather Ranick – Project English-Rotary: “There are employers here who have non-English speaking employees and one of our host locations is the holiday inn and they are hosting a computer and the employees can be there 24 7 working on the computer on break times.”
All 5 Rotary clubs in the metro area support the project with an army of volunteers and financial support.
