Police say the hard work from several law enforcement agencies lead to the quick arrest of 31-year-old Jedidiah Dean Troxel of Crookston. He's charged second degree murder.
Ray Kuznia – Pennington County Sheriff: "We are confident this case is a isolated incident and there is no further alarm for public safety."
Preliminary autopsy reports show Tanya Kazmierczk died from multiple stab wounds and police say her her throat was cut. Pennington County court documents say a witness saw Tanya Kazmierczak talking to Troxel in his car at around six Saturday morning after a party in Thief River Falls. The report said the two did not attend the party together. She was reported missing later that day.
Police say they also found a pair of boots that Troxel owned that match prints that where found at the crime scene. Two other witnesses told investors they saw a car matching the description of Troxel's car near the river where Kazmierczak's body was found.
Ray Kuznia: “In speaking to the family they would like sometime to grieve and we will get a hold of the media at a later time.”
Troxel has not admitted to the murder. He has a criminal history, but has only been convicted of drug charges.
