KATHRYN, N.D. (AP) — A new road has been completed at Clausen Springs Park in southeastern North Dakota, the final piece of a restoration project after the park was hit by spring flooding in 2009.

The Valley City Times-Record reports (http://bit.ly/OHA4k1 ) that the 1.5-mile stretch of blacktop winds from the park opening gate around the southern half of the lake to Clausen Springs Dam. Barnes County Park Board member Bobby Koepplin says the Federal Emergency Management Agency paid most of the $348,000 cost.

Kathryn's 55 residents fled their homes for a few days in April 2009 after Sheyenne River flooding began to erode the dam's spillway. Officials including National Guard soldiers made emergency temporary repairs. Work to rebuild the damaged spillway wrapped up about a year ago.
