Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Minnesota schools don't start until September 4th, so they can take in the State Fair. This year the Minnesota State Fair is embracing new technology, with its very own smartphone app for this year's event.

The day has finally come. You can already taste the fried anything that you're about to eat, but where is the perfect food stand? Your map blew away on the Ferris Wheel. Now what? Don't worry, because there's an app for that.

The Minnesota State Fair App is your official guide to anything fair related - the fried food, the thrilling carnival rides, the dozens of unique merchants - it's all in the palm of your hand.

It has a guide at the bottom - the Fun Finder, the Merchant Finder, and the Event Finder. Find what you're looking for, click it and it gives you a detailed description of what you can expect. At the bottom, locate where it's at on the official State Fair map.

It may be a couple of hundred miles away, but if you're one of the nearly 2 million people expected to attend, this one's probably worth a download.

The free application is available on both the Apple and Android Markets. The fair ends on Labor Day.
