Volunteers to look for missing Detroit Lakes man

Detroit Lakes, MN (WDAY TV) - A search team has now been organized to help find a missing Detroit Lakes man.

Detroit Lakes, MN (WDAY TV) - A search team has now been organized to help find a missing Detroit Lakes man.

49-year-old Donald Dugger hasn't been seen since the 11th and now friends and family are extremely worried and believe Dugger could be suffering from a medical condition.

Lifelong friends of Donald Dugger, those who grew up with him and those who went to high school with him have started their own search effort. Hundreds of people are expected to go to Beltrami State Forest to search and find their friend.

Wade Olds, Dugger’s friend: “We're meeting everybody at the Riverside Convince Store in Warroad at 8:30 tomorrow morning and we're going to have people there every morning.”

Wade Olds grew up with Dugger. He says it wasn't uncommon not to hear from him since he worked as a truck drive for Northwoods Trucking out of Warroad. Olds says in the early morning hours of the 11th Dugger dropped of his truck in a weird spot and left.

Olds: “The owner of the trucking company figured you know, maybe he just quit.”

It wasn't until Duggers car was found Northeast of Winner Silo in Beltrami State Forest last Friday night that Olds and other childhood friends Bryan Schoenberger and Kelly Fonder knew something wasn't right.

Olds: “He was a guy you didn't have to worry about, because he took care of himself.”

Bryan Schoenberger, Dugger’s friend: “Time to step it up. We need to get people and we need to start getting the troops out there and start searching.”

Kelly Fonder, Dugger’s friend: “It doesn't add up, why his car would be out in Beltrami State Forest, which is, that's a large place and it's very desolate with no cell phone service.”

A glove of Duggers was found and footprints leading to a road about two miles out from his car. Now as the best of friends plan their search of the enormous amount of ground they're going to cover, they say it's all worth it to bring their friend home safe and sound.

Fonder: “He's like a brother to me, and the same with the rest of us. If one of us was out in the woods lost or disappeared, he'd be putting the time in to looking for us, so obviously we'll do the same for him.”

An account has been set up at Bremer Bank in Detroit Lakes under the name Donald Dugger to help in the search efforts. Those efforts will end Sunday.

If you have any information on Duggers whereabouts you are asked to call Roseau County Sheriffs department.
