Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A cloud of black smoke rose into the air this morning at the National Guard Training Site but it was just a drill.

The National Guard's 81st Civil Support team conducted a no-notice emergency response exercise.

The scenario: a cargo plane carrying a radioactive isotope crashed and caught fire.

Fargo-Moorhead Hazmat and the North Dakota Air National's Guard's fire department also participated.

Maj. Lila Teunissen, ND National Guard: “This is one of those times where we're trying to put all of the pieces together, see what resources they've got, see what resources we have and see how quickly we can identify what's out there.”
