West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- School officials knew West Fargo was a "city on the grow," but they weren't expecting these kind of enrollment numbers for Freedom Elemntary's first year.

The newest building in the rapidly growing district is expected to greet 561 students on Thursday. The building was built to accompany 550 at a max --

and officials expected 470 students the first year.

Freedom is patterned after Aurora Elementary, which opened in fall 2007 in the Eagle Run area.

Aurora was also built to handle 550 students. Last year, it had 585. Plans are in place to build a second new elementary school in the near future.
