Vikings pre-season home opener gives Webb a chance to prove himself

(WDAY TV) -- We're less than an hour away from the Vikings pre-season home opener against Buffalo. And for Joe Webb it's another opportunity to prove he can be an NFL quarterback.

Webb is entering his 3rd NFL season, and has been a utility man of sorts for the offense, lining up in the wildcat and as a wide receiver. But, this year's he's focused on earning the backup quarterback spot.

Webb says, "i've improved a lot, focusing on only one position, the QB spot, instead of going back and forth. Think I've improved on the pass from when I first came in. Still got a long way to go though. Trying to progress thru my reads, sitting in the pocket when I need to deliver to ball. "

Defensive stars Jared Allen, Kevin Williams, and Antoine Winfield will make their preseason debuts tonight.
