Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Moorhead Police are seeking the owner of a found dog after the dog bit an officer Thursday evening.
The officer was escorting the dog off a north Moorhead property when he was bitten in the upper thigh. The officer received treatment for his injury at Sanford Health while the dog was transported to FM Animal Hospital to be held and monitored for any signs of rabies.
The dog involved in the incident is described as a tan-colored male Pitbull with scars on his face and head. The dog is not registered, nor does it have owner tags. Moorhead Police are seeking the owner of the dog to confirm whether the dog has current vaccinations against rabies.
Anyone with information concerning the dog is asked to call Red River Regional Dispatch at (701)-451-7660 and request to speak with an on-duty Moorhead supervisor.
