Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- A new season of Cobber football is underway in Moorhead where Concordia will try to end a six year playoff drought.
It will be a challenge for Terry Horan, who returns 16 starters but the one position that's open will have his attention and that's quarterback. Three signal callers are battling to take the job, led by former South standout Griffin Neal, who's a sophomore this year.
Terry Horan/Concordia Head Coach, says, "that'll be the biggest position to fill. We have 7 returning starters back on offense. A good majority of that is on the line so the pieces are around that young man, whoever it might be, so it's not like they have to carry the team."
Griffin says, "I'm just trying to make the right plays, do everything I can to make me be the number one QB for this team. This team has such high goals and realistic goals. I have kind of a short term memory. People tell me always I forget things, which hurts me, but on the football field, it's a good thing. I always forget about the last play and I move on pretty quickly."
Concordia has it's first scrimmage this coming Sunday, the opener is September 1st at Jamestown.
