Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- After nearly 5 years of planning and a lot of hard work, the Jon L. Wanzek Center for Scouting is now open.

The 4-million dollar facility broke ground last year and will serve as the regional headquarters and volunteer training center for the entire region.

It provides a new training facility, meeting spaces, conference rooms for staff and volunteers, and adequate Scouting resources and materials.

Organizers say boy scouts shape our youth into strong leaders.

Doug Restemayer, center for scouting chair, says, "this building is a building, but it's a lot more then a building, it's not about the building, it's what goes on inside the building and beyond the building, the services our entire council."

Organizers hope people will come check out the new facility and the new National Scout Shop.
