Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - A special honor for Clay County District Judge Mike Kirk today.
At Concordia College today, state and local dignitaries along with Kirk's family, co-workers and friends gathered for his investiture to the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
He was appointed by Governor Dayton in June. He has been a district court judge since 1989, serving Moorhead and the lakes area.
Kirk started as the Otter Tail County Attorney back in the 1980's. He served as Chief District Judge from 2005 to 2009.
Judge Mike Kirk, Minnesota Court of Appeals: “I am hoping in this new chapter in my life, my years of trial experience will be an asset to the court and in some small way I can make a difference in the application and interpretation and development in the rule of law in Minnesota.”
Kirk will be the 48th Judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. No replacement has been named for Kirk's district judgeship in Moorhead.
