Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks will cross another milestone tonight when they welcome their 3 millionth fan to the ballpark. It's something the Owner of the team takes pride in after starting the franchise from scratch back in 1996.

Bruce Thom/RedHawks Owner: "We didn't even have a clue that we'd have 3 million fans in the stadium and still be alive at this time. 17 years ago it was a dream and now it's a reality and it's a part of Fargo-Moorhead's fabric."

Since the beginning, RedHawks owner Bruce Thom has constantly been thinking of ways to make his attraction the best in town.

Bruce: "We have a lot of competition, between We Fest and the fair, and other things. It's not like we're the only venue in town. We have to re-invent ourselves all the time. We kind of use the Disney World approach and keep it clean and always active."

And if you ask the fans that formula has paid off.

Carla Gieseschlagel/RedHawks Fan: "You can let kids come and you don't have to deal with anybody using bad language. It's very family-oriented and I think that's what brings the fans here."

"Baseball is America's past time. The guys are great! It's fun to watch them."

And after tonight, they can say that 3 million fans have watched them.

Fans: "It's one, two, three, strikes your out at the old ball game."

Among the prizes for the lucky fan will be season tickets for the 2013 redhawks season, some redhawks apparel,

and they'll throwout the first pitch of tonight's game.

We'll hear from the lucky fan tonight at 10.
