Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- There is new information in that crash that claimed the life of a Moorhead Teenager. The news comes as friends and family gathered at St. Joe's Catholic Church in Moorhead for the funeral of Austin Wager.
The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the car involved in that fatal crash was 16 year-old Kullen Carney of Moorhead. Sixteen year-old Brendan Daly was a passenger, and Wagar, who died, was also a passenger.
The Clay County Sheriff's Department report indicates the three boys were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and they were not consuming alcohol - three important variables in any crash investigation. In the last 24 hours, the Minnesota State Patrol has been at the accident scene for more accident re-construction.
Bill Bergquist - Clay County Sheriff: "For the families involved they have questions too, and hopefully we can get some answers for them. It is the right thing to do."
It could be weeks before the full crash investigation report is complete, but with advancements in accident reconstruction and eyewitnesses, it should soon be clear to authorities what happened in those few seconds to change the lives of three young men, their families and their friends.
Bill Bergquist: "Some of the things I learned, they are three great kids, there are a lot of rumors out there and we want to put a rest to that."
The two teens injured in the crash have been released from the hospital.
