Pelican Rapids, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Most Pelican Rapids parents and students like the four day school week the school has had for the past two years.
In a recent review of the new schedule, 85-percent of parents, 95-percent of elementary students, and 99-percent of high school students said they want to continue with the four day week.
They cited more time for homework, more family time and more rest.
The school started the shorter week as a cost-saving measure after three failed levies and years of budget cuts.
Brian Korf, High School Principal: “Preserved our smaller class sizes. It also maintained programs and activities, going to the four day week. We saved anywhere from $95,000 to $105,000.”
The Principal says there was no noticeable difference in academic performance from the four day week.
