Pride Festival in Fargo is bigger than ever

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Supporters and people part of the LGBT community say this years PRIDE festival falls on an important time. They're talking about the proposed amendment on the Minnesota ballot this November to define marriage between a man and a woman. To counter, locals threw an even bigger PRIDE event this year.

They're talking about the proposed amendment on the Minnesota ballot this November to define marriage between a man and a woman. To counter, locals threw an even bigger PRIDE event this year.

David: "It was just about three years ago that I made the move from being in the closet, to being out."

David: "I want to marry who I want to marry."

David: "It's just the matter of the Civil rights that every single person in the United States deserves, and that's all we want, is our own fair civil rights."

Barry: "We know how one person would stand on that vote, so we need to make sure we have Josh Boschee in the North Dakota Legislature."

Josh: "North Dakota is one of 27 states in which if people are gay or even perceived to be gay can be kicked out of their home, or excuse me kicked out of their apartment, or fired from their job, boo is right."

Cody: "I promise to believe in you, even when you have lost faith in yourselves, and we are not going to lose faith in ourselves, we have the right to the same Civil rights and liberties that everyone else does in this country and this world, thank you."

A couple got engaged at today's event.
