Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Thousands of youngsters in the Metro are ready to go back to school with all the supplies they need, thanks to a generous community.

More than half of students on the free and reduced lunch program in Cass and Clay counties will be reached because of United Way's 14th annual school supply drive. The group met its goal of 4-thousand-550 filled backpacks.

Children and their families were at the Fargodome picking up backpacks filled with things like markers, notepads, and pencils.

One mother of three has been coming to the school supply drive for three years.

Monica Gladue, mother of three, says, "it really gives us a head start on the school year so that we can, you know it gives us a little extra money to buy some other stuff that we really need."

There will be another distribution this Tuesday from 4 to 7:30 at the Fargodome.
