Sabin, MN (WDAY TV) -- The news broke out on facebook and other social media sights this afternoon. Now friends of Austin Wagar are remembering the friend they say was lost way too soon.
Hundreds of kids were out at Sabin mourning the loss of a friend. Their classmate, family member, and friend was taken from them in the tragic accident, and now they are out here supporting each other at this very sad time.
Samantha Hartjen can't remember a weekend that Austin Wagar wasn't with her and her family. Her younger brother played soccer with him for as long as she can remember.
Sam: "He was at my house, actually quite a bit, you know with soccer, and he'd spend weekends with us."
When Hartjen heard the news of the accident late last night, she was in disbelief.
Sam: "I didn't know how to react, but I just started praying because what else can you do."
Now, Hartjen can only remember the good times she had with her sporty friend, who was like a brother.
Sam: "Very traumatic I guess, so and then when I head about it today, it just made it worse, It set in."
Jami Johnson had the same math class as Austin when she was a sophomore and he a freshman.
Jami: "We'd always come to class, and we'd be wearing the same sweatshirt, the same North Face jacket and the same moccasins and dark jeans, so we'd always laugh at each other."
Johnson says Austin was loved by everyone he came in contact with, he had a love for sports.
Sam:" He loves being out at the lake and doing water stuff."
His many friends.
Jami: "Moorhead, West Fargo, DGF, South, Davies, everywhere, he has friends everywhere."
Jami: "Very outgoing, he's just overall a great kid, and just nice and friendly."
Clay County Authorities are still investigating the accident. It's not sure tonight as to when funeral will be.
