Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an assault downtown that left a 51-year-old Fargo man unconscious.

Police arrested Cody Egobundu Enwesi on suspicion of aggravated assault. It happened around 3:15 last night.

The assault happened in this downtown alleyway. A manager working at Dempsey's Public House heard a noise outside and opened the door to find what appeared to be a man being beaten.

The manager immediately called police, who later found three people leaving the area.

They arrested Enwesi, and took the other two apparent witnesses to detox.

Police say alcohol was a factor, and that can make questioning difficult.

Lt. Vettel/Fargo Police Dept.: "Anytime you have alcohol involved, especially assaults, certainly there's a lot of "he said," and arguing back and forth as far as what exactly happened. Having witnesses to the case certainly assists us."

The unconscious man was hospitalized at Sanford Health with serious head trauma and difficulty breathing.

Police have questioned everyone involved, besides the assault victim, due to his condition.
