Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The Bison secondary was going to be a group feared by offenses before the season started just for the fact that Marcus Williams plays back there, but when Andre Martin joined the team it took this unit to another level.

Martin comes to Fargo from Northern Iowa. He transferred here this summer. Martin already got his degree from UNI, but still had one year of eligibility left. He decided to come to the Panthers chief rival and has been welcomed with open arms.

Andre Martin - NDSU Senior Defensive Back: "The guys have been very welcoming. As soon as I got here I had about 5 or 6 guys that helped me move in. That just let me know off the bat that these guys were going to be behind me in the weight room, on the field, just doing position drills. At first I was kind of nervous for a couple days, but just me wanting to work hard and get better every day, I think the guys kind of say, ‘This guy can be one of us.’ Hard work gets you some respect."

Tuesday is the first two-a-day for NDSU. Wide receiver Ryan Smith is not practicing. He tweaked his hamstring Monday.
