Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The Flood Diversion Authority Finance Committee will support a $29 million budget for next year, which would keep them on track for a 2021 completion.

The committee met to talk about budget options, ranging from $5 million to $50 million. The $29 million figure recommended by the advisory staff puts $6 million toward authority design, $10 million toward in-town levees, and $6 million toward land purchases.

It also includes a mid-year redirection option so the authority can make changes.

Darrell Vanyo - Cass County District 4, says, "I like the idea that there was a compromise between the middle-of-the-road approach of the somewhere around the $25 million. This looks good. It keeps our dates pretty much in line in terms of the beginning."

The Finance Committee's recommendation would get final approval by the diversion authority in September.
