Jacksonville, FL (WDAY TV) - NFL Training Camps can't be easy for anyone, but it has to be especially difficult for rookies; trying to adjust to the pro game and learn a playbook.
That's the situation that former Bison tight end Matt Veldman finds himself in in Jacksonville. Veldman signed a free agent deal with the Jags back in April and in the early stages of camp, things are looking good.
Matt Veldman – Jaguars Tight End (Jaguars.com) – “The scrimmage went well. There’s still some things I need to work on. It’s easy to see I scored a touchdown on couple other passes, but there are some small technique things I need to work on; some assignment things as well. The playbook is a lot bigger than what I'm used to. That’s coming along though, it’s the third time I’ve looked at a lot of it. It’s not as hard as it was in OTA's, but everyone is a little bigger, a little faster than they were in college so it’s taking some time to adjust to that. I don't feel over my head, feel like I can compete out there.”
Jacksonville opens the preseason Friday against the Super Bowl champion Giants.
