Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- It was a wild day for Grand Forks police. An officer being dragged by a car fired his gun at the driver. Police say that driver is 31 year-old Juan Robles. He's shown to be a threat to the public, and he's still missing. Today's chase was the 2nd time in 3 days he's managed to escape authorities.

Juan Robles first escaped police last Friday. After a routine traffic stop he took off, weaving through many busy streets, including South Washington and 32nd Avenue South, sometimes driving the wrong way. He ditched his car outside an apartment building on Cottonwood Street. Authorities surrounded the building, but didn't find Robles.

Lt. Roger Pohlman - Grand Forks Police: "With today, pursuits there has been a danger to the public with the possibility being struck by a vehicle or his reckless endangerment to the public. "

That pursuit began this afternoon. Just before noon today, police received a report of a stolen vehicle on the south end of Grand Forks. At around one o'clock this afternoon police located the vehicle here at 2149 30th Avenue South. As they approached the vehicle the suspect got back in and tried to get away again.

Lt. Roger Pohlman: "As he was trying to leave the area, the vehicle caught one of our officers with the passengers side mirror, which resulted in the officer firing his weapon into the vehicle. "

Police do not know if Robles was struck by the bullet, but he did get away after hitting a garage.

Lisa Morrison - Concerned Neighbor: "It's pretty scary to learn that it's happening right in your our neighborhood, never heard of that happening like that around here.

After a short pursuit, Robles managed to get away. After a gas runoff at Cenex on Gateway Drive, Robles was last sighted going south on I-29. Late Sunday afternoon Fargo Police recovered the stolen vehicle Robles was driving, but not Robles.

Robles is described as 5 foot-7 with brown eyes and short brown hair.

He was last seen wearing a dark t-shirt and dark shorts. Authorities are asking you to not come in contact with him, rather call 9-1-1 if you know his whereabouts.
