FORT TOTTEN, N.D. (AP) — The father of two children who were found slain in their home on the Spirit Lake Nation reservation in North Dakota last year has been released from custody.

Travis Dubois, of St. Michael, is not charged in the children's deaths. He has been serving sentences for public intoxication and reckless endangerment. He was arrested on May 21, 2011, the day his 6-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter were found dead. Another man has been charged with killing the children.

The Forum newspaper reports that Dubois was released from jail Monday after serving about half of his sentence. Tribal prosecutor Joe Vetsch says Dubois must complete inpatient alcohol counseling.
