North Dakota State is picked to finish first in the Missouri Valley Football Conference in a poll of league coaches, media and sports information directors.

The Bison, who are holding their annual media day festivities Friday, defeated Sam Houston State last year to win the national title.

NDSU has 13 players on defense with starting experience and eight starters on offense who have started at least one game. Two of the Bison defensive backs, Colten Heagle and Marcus Williams, are getting national recognition on pre-season honor teams.

Bison head coach Craig Bohl says expectations for his team are high, but says the competition is rugged within the conference.
