Teen assaulted with a bat in South Fargo
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Multiple teenagers could be facing aggravated assault charges after a 17-year-old was beaten with a baseball bat. It happened in South Fargo late Wednesday night.
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Multiple teenagers could be facing aggravated assault charges after a 17-year-old was beaten with a baseball bat. It happened in South Fargo late Wednesday night.
The assault was reported shortly before 8 near Stonebridge Park in South Fargo. A 17-year-old boy confronted a group of about eight juveniles after witnessing them steal his bicycle. The group then became angry and beat the boy with a baseball bat.
Lt. Joel Vettel - Fargo Police: "The boy was treated and released from a Fargo hospital. Police call this incident shocking, especially in such a quiet neighborhood."
Police say the boy followed the group of 15 and 16 year-olds to get his bike back, but soon after several grabbed blunt weapons including a baseball bat. Lieutenant Joel Vettel says one 15-year-old boy was taken to juvenile detention for aggravated assault.
Lt. Joel Vettel: "No other arrests have been made at this point."
Names will not be released because everyone involved is under the age of 18.
