FARGO, N.D. (WDAY TV) - Area hunting groups along with North Dakota businesses are trying to get the word out about the economic impact of the sport.

They have joined together to form Hunting Works for North Dakota.

The organization is out to promote the strong economic partnership between the hunting and shooting communities and the local economy of North Dakota.

From resorts and hotels, to gas stations and chambers, the group is getting out the word that North Dakota hunters spend over $100 million each year.

Leslie Rosedahl, Hunting Works for North Dakota: “Hunting is important to our state, not only in our heritage and quality of life, but our economy. In small towns, in providing towns and tax revenue, it's a big deal.”

The group says 139,000 people hunt in North Dakota each year.
