MOORHEAD, Minn. (WDAY TV) - It was deja-vu in Moorhead Wednesday afternoon after fire crews received a scary call about another big Fire at the Pactiv Plant in Moorhead.
A March fire at the plant took nearly two days to put out and caused millions of dollars in damage.
Fire officials say they were worried when the call came over the scanner but as you can see behind me, this fire is nothing like the one that happened this March.
The fire started in the Paper Receiving area but crews were able to extinguish the fire in a matter of minutes.
The Moorhead Fire Department says it has no cause for the fire yet but it started in an area under construction from the previous fire.
Pactiv is a plant that makes egg cartons from recycled newspaper.
Crews spent much of their time on scene spraying down those newspapers to contain any possible hot spots.
Fire officials say the fire was well-contained by one of the plant workers
Assistant Chief Rich Eggert, Moorhead Fire Department: “One of their employees did a very good job of getting water on it with a small industrial line like a garden hose, kept it in check, did a very good job.”
The department estimates nearly 100 employees were evacuated by nobody was injured.
There are no damage estimates at this point.
