FARGO, N.D. (WDAY TV) - A Kindred boy about to turn six, has a special request for his birthday party. And it will surprise you.

Jameson McCarvel is about to host his upcoming birthday party, but instead of video games and Legos, he wants his friends and family to bring crayons and notebooks.

The young man wants to help other kids get enough school supplies in the upcoming United Way of Cass Clay School Supply Drive.

He even went out collecting backpacks, pencils and other goodies on his own.

Angela McCarvel, Jameson’s mom: “He said he did not want any toys and he did not need anything, just wanted to get school supplies to give to kids that did not have anything.”

The United Way project hopes to help 4,500 kids during the school supply drive.
