GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The man accused of murdering two children in their home on the Spirit Lake Nation reservation in North Dakota last year will remain in jail until his trial.

Nineteen-year-old Valentino Bagola, of St. Michael, waived his right to a detention hearing that was scheduled for Monday. His three-day federal trial in Grand Forks is scheduled to begin Sept. 24. He could face life in prison if convicted.

Bagola has pleaded not guilty to killing 9-year-old Destiny Shaw and her 6-year-old brother, Travis DuBois Jr. Authorities say the children's mother found them dead under a mattress in their home in St. Michael on May 21, 2011. They had been stabbed to death.

Bagola also is accused of sexual abuse and child abuse.
