Lake Park, MN (WDAY TV) -- A head-on collision near Lake Park injured 3 people this weekend.
It's the second recent head-on collision in the area. A West Fargo family of three died early this month when hit by a drunk driver on I-94. Another wrong-way crash in our area happened out here on highway 10 early Sunday morning. And authorities say alcohol was involved.
Fifty year-old Blossom Chwialkoswki of Hawley tried to turn east onto highway ten from Becker County Road One, but ended up in a westbound lane. Another vehicle with two people inside tried to swerve, but was unable to avoid the collision.
Minnesota State Patrol Lieutenant Brian Cheney says staying in the right-most lane can help avoid a wrong-way collision.
Lt. Brian Cheney - Minnesota State Patrol: "Eastbound vehicle was traveling in the left lane, what most people call the passing lane. Well, if you have somebody that's going to travel at you, that's probably the lane they're gonna pick if you're going opposite directions, because on a 2 lane road, that would be the normal lane for the westbound vehicle to be in if they were on the right side of the road."
The two people in the other vehicle were visitors from England. They suffered minor injuries, while Chwialkowski had non-life threatening injuries.
