Lake Park, MN (WDAY TV) -- Another head-on collision in our area injured 3 people near Lake Park early Sunday morning. Alcohol was a factor.
Fifty year-old Blossom Chwialkowski, of Hawley, tried to turn east onto Highway 10 from Becker County Road One, but ended up in a westbound lane. Another vehicle with 2 people inside tried to swerve, but was unable to avoid the collision.
It's the second recent head-on collision in the area involving alcohol. A West Fargo family of three died early this month on I-94. Minnesota State Patrol Lieutenant Brian Cheney says wrong-way reports happen often, but usually don't end in a crash.
Lt. Brian Cheney - Minnesota State Patrol: "It's not uncommon, especially on Highway 10 being a divided highway with so many access points to it, to get a report of a wrong way driver, so to speak. Typically, when we do get them it's just a driver error and they realize that, 'Oh, I'm going the wrong direction,' and are able to turn around."
