Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Keeping track of your running regimen can be difficult, but it doesn't have to be. Now you can let technology do all the work for you.

Tired of Google mapping your runs? Tired of trying to guestimate just how far you've gone, or how many calories you've burned? Well look no further, because now there's an app for that.

The one I use is called Map My Run. It has just about every piece of information you could want, from exactly how far you ran and how long it took you, to your highest and lowest elevation - a feature probably more useful somewhere other than one of the flattest places in the world.

The best part is that it's free and works while music apps like Pandora are running.

Simply keep the phone on you while you run. Afterwards you can choose to share your information on Twitter or Facebook, or maybe if it's a little slower than what you'd like, keep it private.

All your information is saved to a central database that can the be accessed online or on your phone.

So next time you're in the mood for a little outdoor aerobic exercise, put away the compass and calculator. Just hit play and let your smartphone do all the work for you.
