NEW YORK (WDAY TV) - The NCAA imposed harsh sanctions on Penn State University for its handling of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

Students reacted with shock, sadness and anger, as the school's famous football program was hit with an unprecedented series of penalties, including a 60-million dollar fine, a 4-year ban from bowl games, all wins from 1998 to 2011 wiped out, and a loss of 20 scholarships.

Current or incoming football players to Penn State are free to transfer, and be eligible immediately.
