St. Michael man charged in Spirit Lake killing

ST. MICHAEL, N.D. (WDAY TV) - A Saint Michael, N.D., man is in federal custody tonight, after being charged with killing two children on the Spirit Lake Reservation.

19 year-old Valentino Bagola faces four counts of First-Degree Murder for the May 2011 killings of nine year-old Destiny Shaw and her six year-old brother Travis DuBois Junior. They were found dead under a mattress in their home.

A Grand Jury Indictment alleges Bagola killed the two children by hitting and stabbing them a number of times. Authorities say the children appeared to have been dead several days by the time their bodies were found.

If convicted Bagola faces life in prison without parole.
