FARGO – A West Fargo man is accused of starting a porch fire while a woman was inside the home.
Bruce Allen Risberg was charged in Cass County District Court today with endangering by fire or explosion, a class B felony.
According to police reports, when officers arrived at the home in the 900 block of Fourth Avenue East around 1 a.m. Sunday, they could smell something burning but didn’t see fire.
A woman said Risberg had forced his way in and hit her before lighting insulation in the porch ceiling on fire. She said Risberg sprayed the insulation with bug spray to feed the fire, according to court documents.
Risberg told police he was upset with the woman but the porch fire was started by the flick of his cigarette.
Risberg also faces a charge of felony criminal trespass and simple assault, a class A misdemeanor.
His next court appearance is set for Aug. 23.
