25-year-old Miguel Humberto Medina-Romero faces charges including murder.
Authorities say Romero shot and killed 19-year-old Bryon Kalis outside a house in Pembina in October. They say the 911 call came from Romero claiming he shot an intruder in his home in self-defense.
But according to Romero's rommate, the shooting didn't happen because Kalis was trying to get into the house. He claims it was a fight over jewelry.
The jury trial is set for May 10th.
