(WDAY TV) -- NFL training camps begin to open this week, and a pair of former Bison are making sure their ready for the next level.
Tight end Matt Veldman and offensive lineman Paul Cornick are training together on enemy grounds.
Yes, they're practicing at the University of Minnesota. Not a bad idea, they had some success their this past season. Cornick will be heading to New York Jets camp after signing with the team last week. Meanwhile, Veldman is bound for Jacksonville, and he says he's going there to take a roster spot.
Matt Veldman says, "I absolutely have a shot. I don't think I'd be in this position if I didn't have a shot. I think that they believe in me down there and it's just up to me to go down there and do what I know I can do and work hard. What helps me out a lot is I grew up playing basketball so just learning about body position and going up and getting the ball at the highest point. I think a lot of the stuff I learned on a basketball court really translates to the football field."
Veldman reports to Jacksonville for training camp this thursday.
