30th Anniversary since Hjemkost viking ship went to Norway

Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- It has been thirty years since the Hjemkomst viking ship made it's journey to Norway.
Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- It has been thirty years since the Hjemkomst viking ship made it's journey to Norway.
A celebration of the anniversary is tomorrow at the Hjemkomst Center, which houses the ship. Robert Asp and his family built the ship in Hawley, and in 1984 embarked on a two-month voyage to Norway.
Tomorrow, a new exhibit about that journey opens at the center.
Maureen Kelly Jonason, Executive Director, says, "it's really a historical event for Clay County. Having taken place in Hawley, the building of the ship is a very important part of our history."
The celebration begins at one o'clock at the Hjemkomst.
