FARGO, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's candidates for the U.S. House have agreed to have six debates this fall, and Republican Kevin Cramer says he'd like to have more.

Cramer and Democrat Pam Gulleson are competing for the House seat being left open by incumbent Republican Rick Berg. Berg is running for the Senate against Democrat Heidi Heitkamp.

The Forum newspaper reports that Cramer and Gulleson have agreed to two debates hosted by broadcasters. Another four will be hosted by interest groups representing hospitals, doctors, businesses and the oil industry.

Cramer says he'd like to have 10 or 12 debates. He says they're good for democracy.

The Berg and Heitkamp campaigns have been arguing about how many debates they should have. Heitkamp wants seven, and Berg has agreed to two so far.
